The God Charade

God seems to be talking to too many GOP candidates for President.

Why isn't this a massive argument during the debates?..."God told me to run." "YOU LIE! God told ME to run!!"

The reason it's not an argument is obvious to us. It's a lie, all the way around. And to call out the other guy for lying makes YOU vulnerable to being called out for the same deception. And it's best if people don't look into it too much.

That being said, it falls to the debate moderator to call them on it. And that won't happen because the moderators, and their bosses, are going to want to be called back sometime to do it again. They live and die by a mythical asset called "access". So revealing the charade is bad business all the way around.

So, with elections, particularly primaries, being decided by a small percentage of dedicated wing nuts that volunteer and vote, this deception actually works. All you have to do is keep a small group convinced that you're more sincere than that other guy when you say God told you to run.

And everyone except those pesky atheists and agnostics will help by not thinking about it too much..
