  • Alex McDowell There are many reasons that people find cures. And many people that don't. If it's god, he works in capricious and cruel ways.

  • Alex McDowell You don't find it odd that prayers and belief work substantially more often to heal in nations that have modern medicine? For instance...
  • Alex McDowell Or for that matter, that they work substantially better in nations that have better ACCESS to modern medicine, like most of the largely secular nations of Europe?
  • Neil Jackson Lol I find a lot of things odd, but my faith is not one of those things! to each his own, I choose to believe!

  • Alex McDowell I doubt "choice" had much of an influence. But that's another issue. Father, Son, Holy ghost...Heaven and Hell. God is good, Satan is evil. All that stuff...
  • Kelly Watson-Stubbs Well I know it was no one but God who brought my daughter through all she's been through. ...

  • Kelly Watson-Stubbs Thank you Juanita Caldwell God USES the Dr. When i THANKED the doctor his words were " don't thank me... thank the Man upstairs! "

  • Alex McDowell And if it didn't go so well? Do you blame the "man upstairs" as well?
  • Kelly Watson-Stubbs I have! I'm human!

  • Alex McDowell But, let me guess. You come to the conclusion that a perfect god is not the fault.
  • Kelly Watson-Stubbs When she was born sick I did asked why me etc.... then I had to trust God that either way it went to prelate me and He did. .. there were some days she was so sick they didn't think she'd make it through the night tools me to call family but we PRAYED and He heard our cry. .. if it had went the other way...I'd still praise Him and live for Him today!

  • Kelly Watson-Stubbs I have no clue what ur trying to say. ..
  • Alex McDowell What "all-loving" god would put you through that? Why? And, if it happened in another time, or another place, it most likely would not have had a happy ending. Happens all the time.

  • Alex McDowell A thousand people die in a train crash, but one small child survives (no matter in what condition) and everybody proclaims, "Miracle!" and "God saved this child!" Meanwhile, a thousand people were killed by a god who couldn't stop the wreck in the first place.
  • Alex McDowell “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
    Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?

    Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
    Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
    Then why call him God?”

Epicurus – Greek philosopher, BC 341-270
  • Neil Jackson Faith is a word that speaks for itself and needs no explanation! you believe or you dont! The thing is to keep that faith at all times whether times are good or bad!

  • Alex McDowell Questions that can't be answered verses answers that can't be questioned?
  • Alex McDowell Kind of like life. Times will be good sometimes, other times not. Then what purpose is god?
  • Alex McDowell Remove god from the equation. The results are the same. Except, without god, you get to keep your Sunday mornings to yourself, and don't have to tithe.
  • Juanita Caldwell Alex McDowell, yes a perfect God, can do anything but fail,
  • Alex McDowell Then why have 99.99999999% of all his living creations gone extinct? Doesn't make much sense.
  • Alex McDowell And why do we have to take it all on faith? If we can question, and we're given that ability, why is the message so ...um...questionable?
  • Alex McDowell How did he fail to make the message clear to everyone? And what's with all the need for ego-stroking? Why no clear messages about slavery, washing your hands, atoms, not raping children, not committing genocide, etc.? Your god is too small for me. Too fallible of a "perfect being".
  • Alex McDowell Too obviously a character written by people who didn't know anything about the world or how it works.
  • Alex McDowell Let me rephrase that. Too obviously written by MEN who had intense hang-ups about women...
  • Alex McDowell And a bit too maliciously capricious. The flood? Abraham and Isaac? The plagues of Egypt? God loves the little children, except those dirty little Egyptians?
  • Neil Jackson LOL is it me or have some people not only gotten off the subject, but have just taken over! Opinions are one thing, but this is getting ridiculous!
  • Alex McDowell The question was about faith in god. Seems to be directly ON topic.
  • Alex McDowell I don't see where you would think it was not.
  • Neil Jackson Because it wasnt sspecifically about religion, if you dont believe, cool move on and its not just about you and your not haing faith! You are now just talking shit! Over and oer just bullshit, If your lonely inbox someone and get off!

  • Alex McDowell "Why do most people put more Trust in Money then God?" It was a question. We are addressing it. Uncomfortable with the direction?
  • Alex McDowell We know (somewhat) what money is and what it can do (for better or worse) . The "god" question is another ball of wax, as they say.
