How Fox News Operates
I swear, these guys take lying and propaganda to a whole other level.
For days before and after the Zimmerman case was decided by the jury, the area around Sanford, Florida was concerned about violence breaking out because of whatever the verdict would be. The DoJ, on orders of Eric Holder (yes, the same DoJ I criticized a few posts ago. Get over it), had task forces in the area, coordinating with local and state police, Florida National Guard, and organizing groups on both sides of the issue, to help make sure that everyone had the knowledge and tools to allow peaceful demonstrations without it devolving into violence. It's standard operating procedure for the DoJ to try to nip these things in the bud before there's any problems.
Massive protests broke out in the area following the verdict. With signs, marches, and chants, the people protested loudly, and with gusto, but with no violence.
What was the theme on Fox News for the past few days? The Department of Justice, led by (the black) Eric Holder, at the bidding of President Obama, was coordinating the black folks of Florida to demonstrate against the verdict!
Bad enough. A blatant skewing of the truth. A blatant lie.
Okay.
The DoJ is also, in fact, reviewing the case to see if there are any federal problems with the case under different federal statutes, for instance, hate crimes laws, by request of multitudes of groups and individuals. There are many unresolved issues in this case, no matter how much Zimmerman defenders declare that the trial is over and the verdict is in. It is within the purview of the DoJ to examine why the Sanford Police were lax in securing the evidence of the crime scene, in consideration of Zimmerman's relationship to a local judge and friendship with the local police. There are legitimate questions about his MySpace page and some racist materials that may be there, and his history of following and harassing black people in his "duties" as a block watch "commander". There are questions that need to be looked into.
So what did we get from a Fox News talking head this afternoon?
Eric Bolling was railing against this tremendous waste of time and resources and said, "I'll tell you what... (Eric Holder and the DoJ)... ought to be doing. They should be down there trying to stop these people from rioting!"
So, let me summarize. According to Fox, the DoJ was criminal in being in Florida to try keep the peace because Fox saw them "organizing protesters", but when there was no violence, Fox is still beating the racial fear drum, and blaming the DoJ at the same time for not doing their job and stopping what they see as potential violence.
Connect the dots here, people. It really isn't that hard.
