Pat Robertson: God is the Supreme Law

  If Pat Robertson tells us that the bible (his bible, the one he quotes while wearing poly-blends) should outrank the Supreme Court, then why don't we do what the bible commands us? Why aren't we putting our neighbors to death for homosexuality, blending fabrics, planting different seeds side by side, and working on the sabbath? Why don't we still have slaves? And, while we're on the subject, doesn't Robertson himself work on the Sabbath?
  Stop being a chicken, there Pat. Grab some rocks and do what your god commands. I doubt you'll get much of a microphone in prison (unless "microphone" is an euphemism for something I would choose not to look up...) As the old joke goes, "Let's play a game. Each of us flip to a random page in the bible and follow strictly what it says. Last one in jail wins."
  But really, Pat is the "low hanging fruit". It's obvious to even most people professing a Christian faith that he's a nut case. The real issue is the source material and the fact that ANYONE finds it a source for facts, morals, or a god worthy of worship. If there was no literal Adam and Eve, there is no reason for any prophecy of a coming Messiah to free us all of "original sin", therefore the basis of the Christ myth goes stumbling. If a perfect and all-knowing god had to destroy all his creation in a flood and start from scratch, then what's to worship? If he didn't have rules against incest, slavery, genocide, and rape, how can a modern, thinking human think this is a moral guide? And if bats are birds, disease is caused by impure thoughts, and the stars are just lights in the sky, hung over a non-moving, flat earth, and atoms don't exist, where are the facts? And, as Sam Harris asks us, in what moral or rational system is human sacrifice (Christ on the cross) the correct answer to anything?
 
  Why do so many Americans insist that this god-awful book be the guide for a modern nation? How can we? History will look at us as we look at cavemen.
  As for Robertson, the same could be said of him that Hitchens said of Jerry Fallwell. "If you gave Fallwell an enema, you could bury him in a matchbox".
