The Newsroom: A Guilty Pleasure
HBO and Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom is my favorite thing on TV right now. Nothing is perfect. There are scenes, and some acting, and some writing that are truly cringe-worthy. But I'm a left-wing kind of guy, and I'm a fan of all things Sorkin. Shouldn't we all aspire to have the sort of brains and quick wits of all of his characters?
The seasons for cable dramas are too short. I admit to having seen every episode from the first season at least five times. Sorkin's style packs so much in, so quickly that the second and third viewing have always been better. You know where they're going, and can pick up so much of that rapid-fire, talking over each other dialogue after a few viewings.
That's it. That's my confession for the night.
