Bradley Manning Trial Takes Ominous Turn

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/18/bradley-manning-aiding-the-enemy-journalists_n_3618086.html

The State has become the enemy and Manning has fired a shot at it. There are many issues hidden in here. One, the First Amendment is dead. If the state can call anyone an enemy, they can say anything is "aiding the enemy", and arrest almost anyone for saying almost anything.
Two. The presiding judge in a trial like this has her job at stake if she shows anything but a bias towards the state's case. The repercussions of this case go so far outside of just the military it makes no sense to have it held as a military tribunal.
Three. This case is not about national security, but the right of the military and intelligence organizations to hide their crimes with the rubric of "national security".
Four, and onward. I'm not sure right now, but I'm sure there's more. Comment if you think I've missed something.

If a ruling like this could stand, the nation they pretend to be saving has already been lost.

"You learn that you either are going to have a police state where you don't have any freedom left, or you're going to build a world that doesn't create terrorists - and that means a whole different way of 'getting along.''
-John Shelby Spong
