America, Land of the Free? Reflecting on This Past July 4th

Wouldn't it be cool if this country stood for all of the ideals we claim it stands for? Turns out, we don't. And history shows we never did. We have a few stories of battles for progress, and equality, and justice, and freedom, but for the most part, we're every bit as totalitarian and Orwellian as anybody now or ever.
